Would you like to translate the predefined values associated with your ‘single selection’ or ‘multiple selection’ attributes according to the different data languages in your instance? There are two ways to do this.
1 - Manual translation on a per-unit basis.
Go to the Administration > Data Model > Attributes menu, navigate to the relevant attribute and click on “Manage values for this attribute”.
In the window that opens, enter the corresponding translations (in our example, we are translating all En_US values into fr_FR).
Finally, click on ‘Update’ at the bottom of the attribute editing window to save your changes.
2 - Translation in bulk.
A – Export the data to be translated.
Go to the advanced search page, select the Object type and Product type, adjust your filters (if necessary), then click ‘Select all results’.
Once you have selected the results, click on ‘Actions’, then ‘Export results’.
In the window that opens, select ‘Translation’ as the Export type, ‘Excel’ as the File format, ‘Predefined values only’ as the Content to export for translation, select the Source language and the Target language, and finally click ‘Export’.
Once the export is complete, the file will be available to download from the notification in the top right-hand corner of the screen or from the Activity reports.
B – Import your file containing the translated values.
Open your downloaded file, enter the translations in your chosen target language, then save your file.
Re-import the file by clicking on Data Flow > Start Import > Translation. Drag and drop your file into the designated area, then click on Import Data.
Once you have clicked on ‘Import data’, you will be automatically redirected to the Activity reports, where you can track the status of the import.
Important note:
Only untranslated contents are included in the export file.
The quick data export feature allows you to translate from a source language into a single target language. If you need to translate data into several languages, you will need to generate an export file for each target language.
It is not possible to export more than 5,000 items in a single operation using the advanced search.
