What strategy should be adopted for creating dynamic selections?

Dynamic selections enable to update channels automatically. They are very useful for portal implementation, and their creation can be optimized.

We explain you how to do it!

We'll work on this 3 levels classification tree:

  • Brands

  • Product categories

  • Colors

Dynamic selections can be combined, so you have several possibilities:

Create a dynamic selection per classification node:

  1. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Brand X

  2. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Pants

  3. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Red

  4. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Blue

  5. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Black

  6. Add dynamic selections in the Content tab of the classification node or on the dynamic selections management page

It will enable to reuse searches on brand and color criteria for other product categories. Appropriate if criteria are different from a node to another or if there are few levels.

Create a dynamic selection for each criteria and combine them:

  1. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Brand X, Pants category and Red color

  2. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Brand X, Pants category and Blue color

  3. Create a dynamic selection with the criteria Brand X, Pants category and Black color

  4. Add dynamic selections in the Content tab of the classification node or on the dynamic selections management page

Depending on the classification tree complexity, both options are favorable.
